【摘要】:Fromthelightshipcharacteristicsoneisabletocalculatethestabilitycharacteristicsofthevesselforallconditionsofloadingandtherebydeterminewhetherthevesselsatisfiestheapplicablestabilitycriteria.Accurateresultsfromastabilitytestmayinsomecasesdeterminethefuturesurvivalofthevesselanditscrew,sotheaccuracywithwhichthetestisconductedcannotbeoveremphasized.Theconditionofthevesselandtheenvironmentduringthetestisrarelyidealandconsequently,thestabilitytestisinfrequentlyconductedexactlyasplanned.Ifthevesselisnot100%completeandtheweatherisnotperfect,thereendsupbeingwaterorshipyardtrashinatankthatwassupposedtobecleananddryandsoforth,thenthepersoninchargemustmakeimmediatedecisionsastotheacceptabilityofvariancesfromtheplan.Acompleteunderstandingoftheprinciplesbehindthestabilitytestandaknowledgeofthefactorsthataffecttheresultsisnecessary.1.1Thisguidecoversthedeterminationofavessel'slightshipcharacteristics.Thestabilitytestcanbeconsideredtobetwoseparatetasks;thelightweightsurveyandtheincliningexperiment.Thestabilitytestisrequiredformostvesselsupontheircompletionandaftermajorconversions.Itisnormallyconductedinshoreincalmweatherconditionsandusuallyrequiresthevesselbetakenoutofservicetoprepareforandconductthestabilitytest.Thethreelightshipcharacteristicsdeterminedfromthestabilitytestforconventional(symmetrical)shipsaredisplacement("displ"),longitudinalcenterofgravity("LCG"),andtheverticalcenterofgravity("KG").Thetransversecenterofgravity("TCG")mayalsobedeterminedformobileoffshoredrillingunits(MODUs)andothervesselswhichareasymmetricalaboutthecenterlineorwhoseinternalarrangementoroutfittingissuchthataninherentlistmaydevelopfromoff-centerweight.Becauseoftheirnature,otherspecialconsiderationsnotspecificallyaddressedinthisguidemaybenecessaryforsomeMODUs.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
