【摘要】:IntheUnitedStates,highsulfurcontent(definedbytheUnitedStatesEnvironmentalProtectionAgency(USEPA))middledistillateproductsanddieselfuelusedforoff-roadpurposes,otherthanaviationturbinefuel,arerequiredbygovernmentagenciestocontainreddye.Thedyeconcentrationrequiredtobepresentinhighsulfurandoff-roaddieselproductsisregulatedbytheUnitedStatesEnvironmentalProtectionAgencyandtheUnitedStatesInternalRevenueService,respectively.Somefuelsthatarereadilyexchangedinthemarkethaveacolorspecification.Thecolorofthebasefuelismaskedbythepresenceofthereddye.ThistestmethodprovidesameansofestimatingthebasecolorofNumber1andNumber2dieselfuelandheatingoilinthepresenceofreddye.Thetestmethodprovidesameanstoindicateconformancetocontractualandlegalrequirements.1.1ThistestmethoddescribesthedeterminationofthereddyeconcentrationofdieselfuelandheatingoilandtheestimationoftheASTMcolorofundyedandred-dyeddieselfuelandheatingoil.ThetestmethodisappropriateforusewithdieselfuelandheatingoilofGrades1and2describedinSpecificationsD396,D975,D2880andD3699.Reddyeconcentrationsaredeterminedatlevelsequivalentto0.1to20mg/LofSolventRed26insampleswithASTMcolorsrangingfrom0.5to5.TheASTMcolorofthebasefuelofred-dyedsampleswithconcentrationlevelsequivalentto0.1to20mg/LofSolventRed26isestimatedfortheASTMcolorrangefrom0.5to5.TheASTMcolorofundyedsamplesisestimatedovertheASTMcolorrangeof0.5to5.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
